SSS issues written order against delinquent employers in Victorias

-

THE SOCIAL Security System (SSS) in Victorias City has visited delinquent employers in the locality during its Run After Contributions Evaders (Race) Campaign on Wednesday, October 12.

Eight employers from various sectors received written orders from the Race Team headed by SSS Visayas West 1 Division Head Lilani Benedian for their non-remittance of at least 31 employees’ monthly premium contributions amounting to P1.2 million.

They were given a non-extendible 15 calendar days to coordinate with their assigned accounts officers in Sss-victorias Branch to settle their obligation.

Otherwise, appropriate legal actions will be filed against them.

“Our treatment to these employers is not as violators of the SS Law but as our social security provider partners that need immediate assistance,” Benedian said, adding that “the SSS is reaching out to them thru introducing condonation programs that offer flexible payment terms.”

The Race campaign is a nationwide operation conducted by the SSS through its branches, which aims to exact the continuous compliance of all employers with their statutory obligations under the Republic Act No. 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018.

Under the law, employers are mandated to register their businesses on its first day of operation; report employees on their first day of employment; deduct from the employees’ monthly salaries their share of Social Security (SS) and Employees’ Compensation (EC) contributions; and remit these including the employer’s share to the SSS on or before the prescribed deadline.

“We are encouraging all employers who are already behind in their contribution remittances to avail of our newly launched penalty condonation programs for business employers and household employers as well as the Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program-enhanced Installment Payment Program (PRRP 3) which will run only until November 21, 2022,” Benedian said.

“Through these programs, they may settle their delinquencies sans penalty,” she added. (PR)
