MISS BACOLOD MASSKARA UNIVERSE
asskara was derived from the words “mass” meaning “many” and “kara” meaning “faces,” thus calling it the Festival of Many Faces.
Coincidentally, the newly crowned Miss Bacolod Masskara Universe is Kara Daniela Villarosa.
In the course of her overall performance in various categories at the competition, the 21-year-old 3rd-year Physical Therapist student of Riverside College displayed her oozing confidence as she donned her wardrobes, and wit.
She received P150,000 as her prize for the major title.
Villarosa also won the Best in Swimwear, Best in Evening Gown, and Miss Photogenic awards. Her advocacy is about malnutrition.
She showed her wit in answering the the final question.
After winning the crown, she said that this is a big responsibility placed on her shoulder as she will be representing Bacolod City on a national scale, but she trusts the Aces & Queen which will take care of her in her future journey with her crown.
She added that now that she has a title, it will aid her in having a voice to advance her advocacy on children which is closest to her heart.
“I really want to tackle this (issue) and fix this... I promise to make you all proud of me,” she said.
Villarosa said that she never expected to win, adding that, she will not take for granted this opportunity given to her.
“I thank everyone for supporting me,” she said. At the question and answer round, she was asked whether Bacolod should still smile despite
the effects brought by pandemic, Villarosa replied that Bacolodnons have to set as an example to the rest of the country by being strong even faced by so many challenges.
“We choose to rise from it all and we still
decide to smile and for that I am so thankful to be standing here as a Bacolodnon,” she said.
Her mother Rakki also shared about how she named her her daughter Kara saying that, “I named my daughter after Cara Sobijano, a beauty queen during my time.”
Since her older brother is Karlos, she changed the C to K hence the Kara. Her second name is Daniela for Daniela Pestova, the supermodel who was very popular that time, she said.
Moreover, Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and First Lady of Bacolod Dominique Lopez Benitez, Bacolod Congressman Greg Gasataya and businessman Ian Lo awarded the Miss Bacolod Masskara Universe.
The other top winners were, candidate candidate No. 8 was crowned Miss Bacolod Masskara World, who received P120,000.
Meanwhile, Jan Marie Bordon, candidate No. 6 was crowned Miss Bacolod Masskara International, who received P100,000.
First runner up and Darling of Social Media was Miss Eirine Juliane Granada, candidate No. 11 with P80,000 prize.
Sandale Masangcay, candidate candidate No. 12 was named second runner up and also won best in Festival Costume. She received P50,000.*
