Governors Cup Inter-district 3X3 Basketball tourneys resumes in Hinigaran, Hinoba-an
AFTER the disruptions in the tournament schedules last week due to typhoon “Paeng,” the Negros Occidental Provincial Government thru ite Sports Office resumed the Governor’s Cup Inter-district 3X3 Basketball Festival simultaneously in the municipalities of Hinigaran and Hinoba-an Saturday, November 5.
The tournament’s Districts V and VI playoffs were held simultaneously, and the games started at 1 pm.
For the District V matches, the participating LGU teams were La Castellana, Hinigaran, Himamaylan City, and Binalbagan.
For the 16-under category in the fifth district elimination, Binalbagan emerged as the top team that qualified for the semis and the finals next weekend in Talisay City while in second place was the city of Himamaylan.
As for the 19-under category, the municipality of La Castellana was victorious against the other three LGU teams. Hinigaran, the host venue and the team that had a home-court advantage, landed in the second rank.
Apart from the District V playoff, the sixth district eliminations also resumed in the municipality of Hinoba-an on Saturday.
The sixth district included the participation of the municipalities of Hinoba-an and Candoni and the cities of Sipalay and Kabankalan.
In the 16-under category, Candoni bagged the top spot, while Kabankalan City landed in second place. For the 19-under category, Kabankalan City ranked first followed by the city of Sipalay as the second team
that qualified for the finals.
Moreover, the top two winning teams in the 16-under and 19-under categories of the District V and VI eliminations will proceed to the Semi-final and Final matches on Nov. 13, Sunday. It will be held in the city of Talisay and the games will start at 9 am.

Festival is among the scheduled tournaments organized by the Provincial Sports Office, in cooperation with the Abanse Negrense sports programs for the last quarter of 2022.
The tournament is part of the grassroots sports development initiative spearheaded by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, with the support of PSO Head Anthony Carlo Agustin.*(pr)
