Cadiz City night market begins operation

Cadiz City Night Market officially opened last week with a blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr., members of the Sanggunian­g Panlungsod and the department heads from the government offices.

Rev. Fr. Dear Jara from Sto. Niňo Parish Church administer­ed the blessing of the market along Cabahug Street, near the Cadiz City Park, and is open from November 14 to December 30.

The night market will host food carts, push carts, barbecue grill stations, dry goods, and agri-products, a statement from the city government said.

It added that the stalls will be open from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. until November 30; 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. from December 1 to December 15 and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. from December 16 to December 30.

In a related developmen­t, the Committee on Commerce, Trade and Industry of the city council conducted a public hearing regarding the proposed ordinance on the Temporary Closure of road lanes of the stretch of Cabahug Street along City Hall and Cadiz City Park, particular­ly between Juan Luna Street and Abelarde Street during duration of the Night Market.

The public hearing was attended by the following city officials: Hon. John Vincent Escalante (Chairman, Market Committee), Hon. Judge Frances Guanzon, Hon. CJ Olvido and Hon. Marlon Metoda.

Also present were the Barangay Officials from Barangay Zone 3, Zone 5 and Zone 6, representa­tives from the City Administra­tor’s Office, City Engineer’s Office, City General Services Office, City Legal Office, City Economic Enterprise Management Office, Investment Promotion and Other Economic Enterprise Division, and Philippine National Police – Traffic Enforcemen­t Section.
