Villarreal FC to hold open clinic for young Pinoy booters

VILLARREAL PHILIPPINES, the newest academy partner of the Spanish professional football club Villarreal CF, will hold an open clinic to select players for international events and tournaments.

The clinic will be held at Alabang Country Club in Muntinlupa City on April 28 and 29 and May 1, according to a news release on Tuesday.

The inaugural clinic will be led by Villarreal CF coach Alejandro Márquez, who will be assisted by the academy’s staff in the selection of players for Villarreal Philippines Academy teams.

“This is a breakthrough in bringing proven international methodologies in professional football to our Filipino football landscape,” Villarreal Philippines Academy director Eumir Siao said. “We are working together to improve the level of football in the Philippines through the clinics and workshops that we aim to provide.”

Siao said through the development in the grassroots level and with proper methodology and international exposure, Villarreal PH is creating a pathway for Filipino children to reach their potentials.

Villarreal Club de Fútbol competes in the Spanish professional league Laliga. It won the UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) Europa League in 2021 and reached the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League in 2006 and 2022.
