Pasaporte: Communication between army, police in Negros remains strong

FOLLOWING the deadly shootout between members of the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police in Sulu last Monday, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, Army Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte said the communication and coordination between their forces and the police force in Negros remain strong.

According to Pasaporte, both the police and army in Negros coordinate with one another whenever they conduct an operation.

Pasaporte pointed out one of the guidelines among the battalion commanders in Negros is to always communicate with the local chiefs of police.

Regular meetings and conferences between army and police are also conducted in order to avoid any incidents.

Pasaporte refused to comment over the incident in Jolo, Sulu which ended in the deaths of four soldiers, including two senior officers.

He said he will instead wait for the results of the investigation of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to determine who was at fault and who should be punished.

Pasaporte also reminded the soldiers in Negros to remain calm and maintain good relations with the local police.*
