Valley promotes unity through “Interfaith Week”

-

IN A BID TO promote peace, harmony and mutual understanding among the various religious sectors in the municipality of La Trinidad, the local council has approved a proposed ordinance in the observance of the World Interfaith Harmony Week every first week of February of the year.

Penned by councilor Roderick Awingan, the municipal ordinance is entitled “Institutionalizing the programs, projects and activities during the observance of the World Interfaith Harmony Week during the first week of February of every year in the municipality.

The ordinance highly encourages various activities in the municipality during the Interfaith Week with the cooperation of different religious groups and the local government unit.

Any religious group is welcome during the interfaith week observance.

However, Councilor Henry Kipas expressed his apprehension the observance of interfaith may not be consolidated in a week because of the various religious sectors and opposing beliefs.

Awingan explained the Interfaith Week is a continuation of the National Bible Month every January.

It can be recalled President Rodrigo Duterte declared every January as National Bible Month which will promote values and good manners to the country. Shena Golosino
