Loacan Elementary School participates in Brigada Eskwela
THE parents, teachers, religious groups, youth organization, miners association and other stakeholders participate in Brigada Eskwela of Loacan Elementary School, Itogon, Benguet from May 19-22.
This year’s Brigada Eskwela theme “Isang DepED, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan Para sa Handa at Ligtas na Pamayanan” speaks true for it ignited the spirit of Bayanihan among the residents of Barangay Loacan Proper.
The kick-off ceremony on May 19 was well attended so the school principal, Mrs, Elena Bumatay express her heartfelt gratitude for everyone who came and supported the Brigada Eskwela.
Loacan Itogon Pocket Miners Association (LIPMA) and Antamok Loacan Northwall Miners Association contributed much in manpower. They laid off their workers and assigned them to work in groups from Monday to Saturday. They donated bags of cement and trucks of sand, stone and gravel. They also offered their back hoe and the operator for free.
Other materials such as paint, steel mats were also donated by generous donors. Welding machines, electric cutter, electric driller and mower were also borrowed for free. Food also were donated from certain individuals. A Brigada Eskwela concert was organized by the Loacan Youth Organization which was performed by the governor’s band.
The 50 meter riprap near the grade 3 A room and the concreting of the walls near the gym were the biggest accomplishments of the school.
Other accomplishments were painting of flower boxes, concrete benches and fences and classrooms, mowing, weeding, gardening, landscaping, repair of tables, windows and chairs, repair of electrical wirings, extension of roof, welding of fences and cleaning of the surroundings.
