Itogon I District conducted MAPEH Seminar for teachers
MASS training for teachers in Music, Arts and Physical Education (MAPEH) subject in Itogon I was conducted last May 2-5, 2017 at Tuding, Itogon, Benguet.
The trainors were Mrs. Elmar B. Ladia, Mrs. Evelinda Toquero, Mr. William Serape, Mr. Almar Marso and Mr. Ferdinand Carantes, the MAPEH district coordinator. Sir Ferdinand Carantes lectured on Music. He explained how rhythm is related to dancing. The participants, (teachers), seemed blurred to them but as the lecture went on everybody said, “ah”. The trainer’s or facilitators had each task to do. They were divided according to their skills. The seminar was more on folk dances. The participants were divided by grades. On the second day, they learned the dance terms and dance steps. In the afternoon, presentation of the output. Participants enjoyed the activities. They were like children and forgot they were teachers. Each grade level had a dance to perform from kindergarten to grade six. They had to perform by grade level on the last day of seminar, during the closing. Kindergarten teachers, danced the Rabong, Grade 1-Liki, Grade 2Alitaptap, Grade 3- Kunday Kunday, Grade 4-Ba Ingles, Grade-5 Polka sa Nayon and Grade 6-ItikItik. The participants tried their best to learn the steps of the dances to come up with good performance. Each participants in the grade level wore their own costumes for the presentation.
Mr. Warden Baltazar, MAPEH- EPS from the Schools Division of Benguet, was amazed for the teachers’ performance output. He congratulated all the participants. He said that, “It was amazing, you really did more what I was expecting. “He also injected some suggestions and encouraged teachers to teach cultural dance to the children.
