Earthquake jolts City

MOUNTAIN residents and those in Northern Luzon were jolted with a Magnitude 5.5 earthquake 10:27 in the evening of May 25, Friday.

Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Cordillera informatio­n officer Frances Ivy Carasi reminded the public during an earthquake to practice the duck, cover and hold.

“Let us stay away from any object that may fall, as much as possible do not panic, go out immediatel­y in open spaces,” Carasi added.

The 5.5 magnitude quake was described to be tectonic in origin was recorded at 12 km Northeast of San Marcelino in Zambales.

Bony Roldan, a resident of Trancovill­e, Baguio City felt the earthquake.

“May naramdaman ako na parang gumalaw pero hindi masyado dahil nakahiga ako. Pero kahit ganun nakakatako­t dahil naramdaman ko na ang malakas na lindol noon at sana hindi na maulit,” Roldan said.

As far as Candon, Ilocos Sur, Gretel Dy in her social media account said, “Akala ko immune na ako sa mga lindol from parang inuuga lang yung kama mo to hearing and seeing steels and concrete walls wave and shake dahil halos isang dekada rin akong tumira ng Baguio pero iba pala kapag naramdaman mo iyon sa lowlands kahit hindi naman malakas.”
