Brace for enhanced monsoon - CRDRRMC
THE CORDILLERA Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CRDRRMC) reminds the public to be wary of possible landslides and flash floods the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat may bring.
Based on PAGASA forecast, As of 3:00 a.m. of July 28, the center of severe tropical storm Gorio (Nesat) was estimated at 545 km East Northeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 105 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 130 km/h. It is forecast to move Northwest at 15 km/h. Southwest Monsoon affecting Luzon and Western Visayas.
Office of Civil Defense - Cordillera Information Officer Franzes Ivy Carasi reported, the CRDRRMC has raised its alert level to “blue” for an intensified monitoring of the weather situations in the region.
Based on reports from the different provincial DRRM Councils in the region, Cordillera is affected by monsoon rains. Thus, Carasi reminds the public especially those in mountainous and in low lying areas or near water tributaries to be on alert for possible landslides and flashfloods.
Carasi also reiterated the CRDRRMC’s advice for the public to continuously monitor weather updates (through broadcast or social media) and be on alert for possible hazards that the monsoon rains may trigger
in their communities.
