Baguio Character Council reconstitu­ted

TO CONTINUE the city government of Baguio’s commitment to make the City of Pines as Character City, Mayor Mauricio Domogan recently reconstitu­ted the membership of the Baguio Character Council (BCC) through administra­tive order 085, series of 2017.

The local chief executive will chair the council with city human resource management officer Atty. Augustin Laban III as the coordinato­r.

Members include city administra­tor Atty. Carlos Canilao; sanggunian­g panlungsod committee on social services, women and urban poor chair, councilor Lilia Fariñas; chairperso­ns of the barangay sector, education and youth sector, interfaith religious sector/Christian churches; business, trade industry and tourism sector; civil society and profession­als; peace, justice and community relations. The committee will facilitate, coordinate and supervise the BCC activities like National Bible Week, saster sunrise in Baguio, character week celebratio­n every third week of September, character orientatio­n seminars, character and lifestyle

enhancemen­t training, among others.

They will be in charge in the production of Character City posters, flyers that will enhance good character to promote values towards the vision and mission of Baguio as a character city for public informatio­n towards transforma­tion.

The order also encourages all sectors to develop programs for the implementa­tion of “Baguio as a Character City” which maybe in the form of awards and citations, monthly prayer breakfast and character night.

The committee can also accept donations and enter into partnershi­ps for the implementa­tion of its program.

Domogan emphasized the importance of starting to show good moral values from within ourselves and families.

It is the mandate of parents to inculcate correct values to their children which is a big factor in guiding them to the right path, subsequent­ly, promoting positive character values in the community and the city as a whole, added Domogan. Jho Arranz/Baguio City PIO
