Mayor lauds improved health services delivery
ACKNOWLEDGING health services delivery is undoubtedly one of the most demanding in the city, Mayor Mauricio Domogan commended the Health Services Offices (HSO) under Dr. Rowena Galpo for the Summer Capital’s consistent winning of awards on health and nutrition.
Baguio has won the Crown Award on Nutrition, Pink Award for anti-smoking initiatives, Gawad Kalinga award for best TB-DOTS facility at the City Camp health center and another award for the best community health team at the Atab health center.
The HSO is also the first city government department that is vying for ISO Certification to further improve service delivery.
During his State of the City Address last week, Domogan said the local dengue control program reported a 91.82% decrease for its levels in 2016 and carried on through the first half of 2017.
“We now have free dengue testing in all district health centers. Hopefully, we can look forward to a day when Baguio can again be denguefree,” he added.
The mayor pointed out the city is now human rabies-free for the past 14 months due to the joint initiative of the HSO and City Veterinary Office headed by Dr. Brigit Piok in cooperation with barangays for
the two-pronged attack on the problem.
“We have also sustained zero death in all vaccine preventable diseases,” he stressed.
Domogan said the city’s 16 district health centers continue to be Philhealth accredited for the primary care benefit package and TB DOTS while some have recently been certified as animal bite treatment centers. Gaby Keith/Baguio City PIO
