Itogon teachers training funded by San Roque Power Corporation Foundation Incorporated
KINDERGARTEN to grade 3 teachers of Itogon Districts I and II were just so lucky to have their Training-Workshops on Developmentally Appropriate Practices in Early Language Literacy and Numeracy (ELLN-DAP) be funded by the San Roque Power Corporation Foundation, Incorporated.
The training-workshops were conducted for five days in Itogon District I and three days for Itogon District II this months of July and August 2017. The training aimed to deepen the teachers understanding of the principles of child growth and development and be able to be guided with these principles in understanding the learners better; be familiarized with the emerging literacy and numeracy games and how they are used effectively to enhance their teaching; understand the principles of Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) and how they are applied in teaching, the different remediation/interventions in English and Mathematics addressing common difficulties encountered by young learners; learn ways on how to optimize learning in kindergarten to grade 3; share and contribute learnings from colleagues; and to construct teaching materials for kindergarten to grade 3 and come up with reading and Mathematics intervention which will help address learner’s difficulties.
With the scarcity of funds due to the omission of the usual funding support received by the districts for teachers development from the municipal school board as a result of the audit observation memorandum, the schools were left to charge training expenses to the Schools’ Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) which at times not enough to address all school needs and expenses considering that the schools have different unique situations and provisions. In most cases, the school administration has to find means to source out funds to augment the funds available to support all its programs, projects and activities. The school community partners or stakeholders’ participation really matters much as proven by all the assistance they provide to public schools. San Roque Power Corporation Foundation, Incorporated has been true to their mandate and had never failed to provide assistance to these two districts.
An amount of more or less One Hundred Thousand pesos were provided to the two districts which really helped in the realization of the training objectives particularly on the preparation and construction of teaching-learning materials which were the main output of the training-workshops.
