BAGUIO City Councilor Arthur Allad-iw were among the many disappointed following the recent rejection of Judy Taguiwalo as Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Allad - iw said he is one with those assailing members of Congress’ Commission on Appointments who voted against the appointment of the professor.

“Their act of rejection on her appointment is incomprehensible, she surpassed the qualifications in terms of education and that of her uncompromising dedication to serve the people at its fullest,” Allad-iw said.

Allad - iw said the Congress Commission on Appointments transgressed the rights of the Filipino people in adopting a system of votation where they – the members – are the only ones who knew who voted in favour and against.

“The Filipino has the right to know any information tainted with

public interest, and that the CA has transgressed this basic right of the people by their so called secret balloting. This is contradictory on the policies of transparency and public accountability and, immediately, must be rectified by Congress in favor to the right of the people to know,” Alladiw added.

Majority of the members of the Commission on Appointments (CA) voted against Taguiwalo, who was a former political detainee and endorsed to the Cabinet by the Communist Party of the Philippines as President Rodrigo Duterte sought to broker a peace deal with leftist rebels.
