City commends PSHS inventor students
BAGUIO students once again gave pride and prestige not only in the City of Pines but also entire nation.
The City Council recently passed resolution numbered 284, series of 2017 commending the Philippine Science High School-Cordillera Administrative Region represented by Krystal Nicole Vicente, Daphne Rose Molina and Nureen Alizah Osbucan.
Vicente, Molina and Osbucan succeeded in the 1st International Royal Military College (RMC) Young Scientists Conference and Exhibition held July 10 to 15 at the Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Twelve countries participated in the said event and the Philippines was represented by Baguio students of the PSHS.
The students presented their individual research projects which were divided within the fields of mathematics, computer sciences, physics, life science and environmental sciences.
Awarded as gold medalists, both Vicente and Molina invented a thermoelectric generators (TEGs) as alternate smartphone chargers, while Osbucan invented a harvesting rainfall energy using piezoelectric transducers.
“The competition visions to be a catalyst in creating an atmosphere of researchmindedness in the elementary and secondary levels and be a facilitator to the teachers in improving the capability in monitoring and facilitating their student in research area. In addition, the competition also focuses on smart partnership with the local and international universities, local research institutes and international research institutes and also collaboration with other countries center for Young Scientist Center,” stated in the resolution.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan expressed his delight to the PSHS students for giving prestige the city and the country as a whole.
