Hot lumbers seized in three provinces

CLOSE to P45,000 worth of illegally sawn lumbers in the different provinces of the Cordillera region were confiscate­d by the police over the weekend.

Authoritie­s, during the one time big time operation confiscate­d 12, 634 assorted pieces of abandoned lumber with a total volume of 1,519 board feet.

In Benguet, 106 pieces of abandoned assorted lumber with a total volume of 884 board feet with an estimated market value of P26,289 were recovered by joint operatives of Benguet Police Provincial Office in Buguias, Bokod and Itogon on August 26.

Another nine pieces of abandoned lumber and slabs with a total volume of 35 board feet and market value of P1,295 was recovered on August 27 by joint operatives of Kabayan MPS and Benguet Provincial Public Safety Company at the forested areas of Sitio Kalimban, Sitio Balinet, Sitio Paew, Sitio Pitil and Sitio Bangao, all of Barangay Gusaran, Kabayan, Benguet.

In Ifugao, a total of 125.4 board feet of abandoned lumber in different sizes with an estimated market value of P3,754.20 was recovered at Sitio Dinapugan, Tuplac, Kiangan in the morning of August 24.

In Apayao, a total of 15 pieces of abandoned tanguile flitches with a total of 600 board feet with an estimated market value of Php12,000 was recovered in Barangay Barocboc, Sta Marcela.

Recovered assorted lumber are now under the custody of the concerned operating units prior turn-over to the respective DENR/ CENRO and PENRO. PRO-COR PIO
