DAprofiles Ifugao agri extension workers
LAMUT, Ifugao -- The Department of Agriculture- Cordillera Administrative (DACAR) has undertaken the profiling of all Agriculture Extension Workers (AEWs) in this province to determine gaps and concerns as well as recommendations to strengthen delivery of extension support in the countryside.
The AEWs profiled are those under the Rice and Livestock Banner Program, Corn Banner Program and the High Value Crop Development Program which are part of the DA’s intensification of the agriculture and fishery sectors towards food security and sustainability by strengthening the agriculture extension services.
The targeted respondents of this profiling survey are all the AEWs in the local government units (LGUs) undertaking agriculture and fishery extension services whether permanent or regular employees, casual employees, contractual or job order employees, local field technicians and all technical items.
This aims to determine and assess the gaps, issues and experiences of the different LGUs in the province as frontlines in undertaking extension services
and assess their different extension activities as to implementation of research and development regulatory activities.
The identified main issues and concerns of AEWs will help the national government to further determine the logistical and technical needs of the extension support in the country and the recommendations for an effective and efficient delivery of the extension support to further instigate enhancement of the National Extension Agenda and Programs for 2017-2022.
There are 114 AEWs in Ifugao- 46 are under the Rice Banner Program and 68 under the Non-Rice Banner Program that include corn, fishery livestock and high value crops. Daniel Codamon/ PIA – CAR
