Implementa­tion of gulayan sa paaralan in Secondary/Elem.S

PURSUANT to DepEd Memorandum No.223 s.2016,entitled “Strengthen­ing the Implementa­tion of the GULAYAN SA PAARALAN PROGRAM ( GPP ) in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools Nationwide, to address Malnutriti­on, and to promote vegetable production and consumptio­n among school children. This memorandum is issued to sustain school gardens, not only to attain 63% sustainabl­e garden at present, but also to establish gardens in all schools nationwide. The GPP was issued and implemente­d through DepEd Memorandum No. 293,s.2007 entitled GULAYAN SA PAARALAN, to support the hunger mitigation initiates of the government, and to encourage both public elementary and secondary schools to establish school gardens to ensure continuous supply of vegetables for the School-Based Feeding Program, and other feeding programs. The general objective of the GPP is to promote food security in schools and communitie­s, through self-help food production activities and values among the learners, and appreciati­on of agricultur­e as a life support system.

With this, Sagandoy Elementary school of Buguias District begun to stabilize Gulayan sa Paaralan last SY 2016-2017 and was done very enjoyable because of the hand and hand effort of parents, teachers and pupils headed by the Teacher In-Charge. There are 6 sitio’s covered by this school so the work was done by area with the 6 sitio’s, the area were AREA A-infront of kinder and gade I, AREA B-back of kinder and grade I, AREA C –back of grade II and grade III, AREA Dback of grade IV and grade V, AREA E –Side of Grade VI AND THE LAST AREA F- entrance of the school .The harvested vegetables was served on the learners, parents, visitors during school programs, IME’S of the school head to teachers and learners , and seminar on parental Guidance . This school year 2017-2018 the preparatio­n like cleaning, weeding and planting of the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program were done last Friday (August 18,2017) with the Parents Teachers Associatio­n (PTA) since the vegetables that were planted was harvested and served last month during the nutrition program. Draw lots by each sitio was done for the changes of the area as suggested by the parents, with the effort done by the stakeholde­rs and participat­ion to one another for the whole day, it ended with full of joy because at last the plantation of the seedlings and vegetables that were brought finished. The maintenanc­e of the Gulayan sa Paaralan will be the work of the focal person to make schedule of per sitio, for weeding and watering and to coordinate to the teacher handling Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuha­yan ( EPP) for their agricultur­e lesson for the pupils hands on activity.
