TAYO awards search on

The search is on for the Ten Accomplish­ed Youth Organizati­ons (TAYO) kicked off its campaign in the Summer Capital to the search, recognize, reward and encourage youth organizati­ons all over the Philippine­s.

TAYO, on its 15th year visited different cities and provinces around the country including Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Norte, Manila, Naga, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Kalibu and Ibahay Aklan, Zamboanga, and to promote young people to find innovative solutions through the organizati­ons they belong.

All groups, barkadas, organizati­ons, clubs, and societies composed of five members, who are 30 years old and below are qualified to join the search.

Organizati­ons are judged based on a recent program or project that had an impact on the community, and best reflects the efforts of the youth sector towards nation building.

Participan­ts can join the different categories such as culture, arts and heritage; education and technology; environmen­t, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation; health, well-being and human developmen­t; or livelihood and entreprene­urship.

Previous winners from Baguio City include the University of

the Cordillera­s Hapiyoh Mi Cultural Group which promoted cultural preservati­on in the city.

Another winner from the city is the Brotherhoo­d for Peace United Gangs and Fraterniti­es.

Executive director James de Vera of the TAYO Awards Foundation said TAYO saw the impact of these organizati­ons in reaching out to the people in a very creative way that resulted to win the prestigiou­s award.

After TAYO, awardees in the different organizati­ons are exposed to lot of opportunit­ies and exposure where they get to meet internatio­nal NGO’s and local NGO’s.
