Pines City National High School medical mission
“To provide medical care to those who are in need and to sustain healthy community for a better education” is one of the objectives of Pines City National High School’s Medical Mission.
Almost 150 indigent residents of Barangay Inabaan Norte in Rosario, La Union have availed of the free medical service conducted by Pines City National High School -Filipino department Headed by Francisco B. Penaflor in coordination with the Beta Sigma Fraternity on August 27, 2017 at Barangay Inaabaan Norte.
With the help of Dr. Noel Ventura of Beta Sigma Fraternity, Mr. Kelvin Dayday, Mrs. Gloria Marinas-Head Teacher of Science Department-Officer In Charge, and Mrs. Conchita Palecpec, Head Teacher of Math Department dedicated themselves and gave their time and blessing to the people of Baranggay Inabaan Norte.
The event was supported by diligent efforts of the Local Government Unit headed by Barangay Captain Carlos Mabutas, Barangay Kagawad and a number of Rural Health Unit Clinics all around Rosario, La Union.
Services rendered range from medical and pediatric consultations. The recipients also received prescriptions of medicines for common illnesses and vitamins for free.
In addition, the volunteers and participants on a the said mission offered the opportunity to witness, learn and get experience in assisting the doctor and the nurse in conducting the medical checkup. Even the teachers as well as the retirees of Pines City national High School actively volunteered and supported the said endeavor by assisting local volunteers in admitting patients, recording their medical history and assisting patients. All gave a helping hand for the success of this event. It was indeed a team effort of all its stakeholders.
Helping people to make life better for the less fortunate; caring enough and exerting an effort to improve others; having an open heart and providing a warm smile and a hand to hold them can make a difference! By Maricel L. Mendoza
