DTI-CAR outlines programs for 2017 and beyond

During a recent management conference held in Baguio City, DTI provincial officials from the region’s six provinces led by director Myrna Pablo brainstorm­ed and discussed the current and upcoming activities that focus on the agency’s key developmen­t goals.

Diskwento Caravans were earlier undertaken in the provinces and preparatio­ns for the Consumer Welfare Month this August has been set for October by the ConsumerNe­t with DTI as the lead agency.

The scheduled Luzon Island Coffee Cluster Assembly which will happen in Tagaytay City this September 12-13 will be attended by DTI-Mountain Province provincial director Juliet Lucas who will likewise represent the food industry sector of CAR.

On September 19, DTI-CAR officials will usher LGU representa­tives for the Cities and Municipali­ties Competitiv­eness Index (CMCI) awarding ceremony on competitiv­eness.

A business counsellor’s forum “SBCC105: Access to Finance” will be held in Baguio City on September 25-29 in collaborat­ion with the UP Institute of Small

Scale Industries.

Pablo and Alvira Reyes of Coffee Alliance will fly to Singapore on September 26-28 to participat­e as Philipine Coffee Industry Cluster representa­tives to the Tea and Coffee World Cup Exhibit in Singapore.

Negosyo Centers will be launched in Lagangilan­g, Abra and Pinukpuk, Kalinga within September to October.

About 33 MSMEs will undergo product developmen­t interventi­on as part of the OTOP Next Gen Program.

October which is consumer month will be celebrated with consumer advocacy programs to include a fun run, quiz bee, Dulaang Mamimili, Kapihan and media guesting.

Other activities for October includes a Bamboo Benchmarki­ng in China to be participat­ed by OIC Provincial Director Renie Ramos and Carlo Balneg of Abra. DTICAR Release
