Mabini, Berkeley top Milo Little Olympics b’ball

BAGUIO schools made their presence felt by stopping their rivals during North and Central Luzon leg of the Milo Little Olympics during the weekend.

Berkeley school made it back to back after edging Westfield Internatio­nal School in the secondary division while Mabini Elementary School edged Don Bosco Technical Institute to claim the title in the elementary division.

Sau Dharwin Edades fired a game high 23 points including the winning free throw while Rayne de Vera added 15 for the school’s first championsh­ip in the regional leg which saw close to 5,000 student athletes from four regions vie for top honors in 15 different events.

Don Bosco earlier started strong, piling up a 16 - point lead in the opening canto before Mabini caught up to steal the win, 61 – 57.

Mabini edged Narvacan in the eliminatio­ns round and later on thwarted

Lucban Elementary School in the semis to arrange a championsh­ip match with Don Bosco who earlier stopped defending champion Berkeley in their own semis match up.

Since 1988, the Milo Little Olympics sought to promote the youth's physical and mental well-being as well as develop children with values of discipline, teamwork, self-confidence, leadership, resilience and fair play.

The Milo Little Olympics is conducted annually in Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and the National Capital Region. Roderick Osis
