DJ crowned Ms. Baguio 2017

A DISC jockey who is half Scott and a 5’8" beauty who fell while having her walk just at the start of the Ms. Baguio pageant Sunday night at the Baguio Convention Center were the top winners in the annual pageant.

Karla O’Hara, a mass communication student from Saint Louis University and a disc jockey at K-Lite was named Ms. Baguio during the four hour pageant where she was also named darling of the press and best in swimsuit.

The 5’4.5" inch beauty, whose father is from Scotland, bested 22 other candidates to take the crown where she wowed 11 judges including 1996 Ms. Baguio, Honeylette Parado- Depaynos, now a medical doctor.

“I am just so happy I won,” said the looker who was clearly the favorite right before the pageant that even her colleagues from the media voted her as their choice.

O’Hara said it is with kindness, which “the dead can hear and the blind can see” that she will promote and which she will share with the people of Baguio that all but clinched the title for her during the question and answer portion for the seven finalists.

But it was Judy-Ann Caasi who stole the show when she fell while taking her walk right at the start of the pageant. Caasi foundered that required help from a crew of the show to get up. It was quite embarrassing for the 5’8" stunner as several attempts to rise proved futile.

Caasi went home with the Ms Baguio Tourism title even as Lyneree Wly Montero took the Ms Baguio Liga ng Barangay plum.

Divina Marie Villanueva, one of the tallest at 5’9", was first runner-up, followed by 2016 Ms. HRAB Karen Marie Mabalo, Marikit Manaois and Ma. Izabel Lamberth.

Lamberth, a 17 year old senior high Fil- Australian salvaged fourth runner up despite failing to meet the expectation of the audience that host Andrew Bayating asked the crowd to stop cat calling. The grandniece of national artist Ben Cabrera, who showed up for the 4-hour show with relatives including mother, Beth, is an upcoming movie actress, who made the Ms. Baguio as a sort of ego booster before plunging in the movie industry.

Lamberth also needed to get clearances from her doctors for the month and a half pageant and its rigors. Lamberth had an open heart surgery only last June which was funded by her uncle and who for the first time watched the pageant.
