8 City high booters start campaign in Borneo Cup

EIGHT football players from Baguio City High School open their campaign in the 2017 Malaysian Borneo Football Cup which kicks off Setpember 22 in Kota Kinabalo.

Midfielder Aeron Christian Tenollar, who recently earned a trip to FC Bayern Munich in Germany for the Allianz Junior Football Camp, will be joined by defender Shran Dyrick Vicente, striker Ivann Angelo Silva, defender Travis Ekid and striker Aaron Wallen.

Also joining the five are Under 13 players Miguel Rebultan (midfielder), Harold Rillera (goalkeeper) and Juie Peralta (winger).

Coach Aries Bocalan said the eight players will be seeing action under the Dreaming United Football Club.

“The eight were chose after helping the Dreaming Futbol Club win the National Capital Region Youth League last summer,” said coach Aries Bocalan.

The football club was also instrument­al in bringing Nissi Dumpayan to the same tournament last year.

The 2017 Malaysian Borneo Football Cup will be the 10th anniversar­y for the tournament which started as an idea and has grown into an Internatio­nal Youth Tournament with teams from Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippine­s, Hong Kong, India, China and Malaysia entering the tournament.

Each year, the tournament offers high profile football personalit­ies who fly into Kota Kinabalu to observe the tournament and impart their knowledge and advice.

Previous guest include Les Murray, Craig Foster, Mike Mulvey, Abbas Saad, Aytek Genc, Brad Maloney, Mark Rudan, Alan Davidson, Ante Milicic, Ron Smith & Alex Tobin to name a few. Roderick Osis
