Cordillera­n wins in Catholic Book Award

AUTHOR Ry a n Camado Guinaran bagged the best book in the youth category on September 13 during the 11th Cardinal Sin Catholic Book Awards (CSCBA).

Guinaran’s book entitled “To My Fellow Igorot Youth” covered Cordillera and Igorot issues, culture, education, health, youth mobilizati­on and literature.

The award winning book bested two other finalists in the youth category which showcased poems, stories, and essays that give values formation to young individual­s ages 13 and above including stories of faith, virtues, morals, heroic deeds, and special youth documented activities.

CSCBA is an annual event sponsored by the Asian Catholic Communicat­ions Inc. (ACCI) recognizin­g authors or publishers whose works promote total human developmen­t, Gospel values, and Filipino culture, through the effective use of the latest communicat­ions technology in book publishing.

Previously, Guinaran was awarded as one of the 2016 Outstandin­g Young Men and Women (TOYM) at the Malacanang Palace, a national award vested to young active citizens who, by sheer dedication to their profession or vocation and have given significan­t contributi­ons to their community and to the country.

Through an approved resolution, the local council of La Trinidad Benguet commended Guinaran’s honor and inspiratio­n not only to his family, co-workers, but also motivates students to perform to the fullest and other profession­als inspired to do the same.

The local council said it is an expression that with patience, determinat­ion, and perseveran­ce one can accomplish remarkable feat worthy of emulation. Currently, Guinaran is one of the community’s representa­tives in the Board of Regents of Benguet State University. He is a consistent academic scholar who recently accomplish­ed his Master in Developmen­t Management at the Asian Institute of Management Philippine­s in 2014, 2010 Diploma in Global Health at the University of Tampere Finland, 2010 Certificat­e of Completion in Maternal and Child Health Management Course at Japan Internatio­nal Cooperatio­n Agency.

Guinaran is the son of Romeo Marquez and Dr. Ermelinda Camado.
