South Drive inspection set
BAGUIO City Councilor Maylen Yaranon, chair of the committee on public works is set to inspect damages brought by EBA construction to South Drive and the Calinao Property.
Yaranon said the inspection will be set on the first week of October in order to make necessary reports and action for the council to enact.
Allegations show
the constriction has encroached on the road right of way of the Calinao property and also extended to the national road which is in violation of building permits and is asking the city to revoke the building permit of EBA construction and to file the appropriate case in court.
The property at South Drive was purchased by Eusebio Aquino which is being developed for a six storey hotel building and three levels of parking.
As early as 2016, the village chief of South Drive issued a warning against EBA construction for violations of conditions in the barangay.
Letters from South drive village chief Maribel Cagalawan, the City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO) Nazita Bañez were also given to the firm as well warnings from the Department of Public Works and Highways over dangers the construction has caused.
All complaints fell on deaf ears, which pushed the council to summon EBA and Aqunio to the council urging the constriction team to pledge a sixmonth period to correct mistakes.
The period has lapsed which led Councilor Leandro Yangot to move for the cancellation of the permits of the Aqunio property.
Calinao patriach, Ernesto, has also sought the help of Bañez.
“We are appealing for you to extend your orders to EBA construction to address our deplorable condition caused by the excavation on their property,” added Calinao.
The road near the nine storey building as well as the private property of the Calinao family is reportedly in danger of collapse. Maria Elena Catajan
