Fish for opportunities

-

AS David Lynch once said, “Ideas are like fish.” On one hand, artists have the struggle of how to grab and catch their “fish” or abstract ideas and turn them into art. On the other hand, other digital artists would get stumped on how to build and compile their “fishes” together. With the rising trend of demand of artists in the creative industry, it is vital to start catching its trends to be able to work on them early on in one’s career.

The Cordillera School of Digital Arts, Inc. (CSDA) has programs geared to aid artists in developing their creative digital arts skills. The duration of the programs are around fifteen to thirty hours, depending on which project packet the student chooses. The key of the program is focusing on how the artist has developed, honed, and improved throughout the progression of their portfolio. For artists with built portfolios, the teachers at CSDA will assess what kind of projects the artist still wants to achieve, which is built throughout the duration of the program.

For those interested in graphic design, there are three main programs:

First, infographic design is focused on creating effective design, sending out eyecatching, attention-grabbing pieces of information or motivational pieces that can engage people to keep on reading what the artist is sharing. The rise of infographics seen on social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, is especially catered to help the new generation get into the habit of reading mere words with a special touch of art.

Second, marketing collateral design aims for students to create their own brochures, flyers, logos, and posters. This is especially useful if the student will apply for career opportunities where these skills are highly demanded.

Third, layout and publication design make their own magazines and books or other publication material they aim to accomplish. This program is more focused on how the words, its placing, and overall emphasis can be seen through the design and layout of the student.

Another highly in-demand career that we provide with a program is video editing. This skill is very much seen, as there has been an almost overnight rise of vloggers working in the digital media art space and online platforms such as Youtube. With this, the program provides the skills needed, along with video editing tools that can be utilized by editors for projects like memorable infommercials.

One important and newly added program to note is game development. This is focused on the process of how to create your very own game whether computer or mobile.

The other programs are crocheting, jewelry making and quilting, which are those who love hands-on art. Those with the keen eye for capturing stunning pictures can try the photography programs. Also, Art Workshops for Kids is now ongoing, providing fun art activities for the little ones.

Overall, with the ever-increasing demand for artists, CSDA hopes to meet that demand by providing the market with well-equipped artists who have gone through the programs. This would give the artists the needed skills to create quality work by themselves even after the program, which can be useful for the personal projects or in their pursuits to venturing into new careers in the creative industry.
