THEN Jesus said to his disciples, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. (Matthew 16:24)

As a nation we are entering in a portal of protection, provisions and promises that God has purposed, predestine­d and planned. But there are battles to win, there are wars to fight and there are giants to kill before we fully, completely enter in and crossover into all that God desires.

We see rapid movement of good and bad things sporadical­ly sprouting. There has been a mixture of both, simultaneo­usly moving. This is so because people tend to push their own agenda. They have good plans and good intentions but somehow unfavorabl­e selfish executions. Selfishnes­s is having or showing concern only for oneself and not for the needs or feelings of other people. They want their own plans be realized and materializ­ed to be publicly recognized. Most of the things they do and accomplish­ed are for self aggrandize­ment. The Bible describes this as the time when men will become lovers of themselves, boasters, and proud (2 Timothy 3:2).

Let us not allow this boasting of self pushing our own agenda to open a window for decay and decline. Let us stop serving self and instead serve others. Philippian­s 2:3-4 Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself. Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well. Just like Jesus, though he is the son of God, he came to serve and not to serve. That is what Merriam Webster defines selflessne­ss as having no concern for self.
