FROM a scrap, comes with the imagination, comes with the hard work and with the hard work, the product will surely bloom. Indeed with strong will and great motivation, no one can stop a man from doing anything better.

Pursuant to the DepEd Order no. 93. S. 2011. DepEd Order No. 52, s. 2011 entitled “Strengthening Environ mental Education in Public and Private Schools" contains a mandate for the Department of Education-Center for Students and Co-Curricular Affairs (DepEd-CSCA) to lead pupils and students' environmental programs, projects, activities and advocacies in schools, and to formulate, design and develop various forms in connection with the application, registration, establishment, assessment, monitoring and evaluation of the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O) in public and private schools. Hence, the DepEd issues the Mandated Programs, Projects and Activities (PPAs), Various Forms and Targets Pertinent to the Youth for Environment in Schools (YES) Program.”

With this, the Pines City National High School Clean up activity entitled “Linis Kabataan Project “was held on the morning of September 23, 2017 for the National Cleanup Day, organized by the PCNHS Kabataang pangarap ni Rizal (KaPaRiz) in collaboration with PCNHS Culture and Arts and Tanghalang Teatro Pino with the help of the private sector.

As part of the community extension services of the school, several students/participants joined the Cleanup drive which was conducted by the Pines City National High School -Filipino Department headed by Mr. Francisco Penaflor in cleaning the environment including schools, roads, vacant lots, creeks, sewage systems, walls and creeks. The event aims to promote cleanliness in roads and drainage, public places, parks, schools, and molded walls. It is also an opportunity to boost the spirit of volunteerism for a healthy environment and public awareness in the country.

On the other hand, the Chairman of the Kapariz Noemi Hangad said that “the experience was great and we really had fun. Always realized the value of environment. As a youth we know the value of waste segregation and the prevention of climate change and global warming. And with this activity we also built friendship.”

In addition the Barangay Chairman Ret. Col. Alberto Reyes of Palma Urbano. and their constituents together with other volunteers participate and focuses of the Barangay program on cleanliness and awareness of “Tapat Mo Linis Mo”.and this was a great way to burst the awareness of their people regarding the cleanliness and the avoidance of dengue and other health related issues. It was indeed a team effort of all its stakeholders.

Being involved with the community not only permits a person to become well rounded, but it benefits those around them in a positive way. More young, energetic people should participate in community service in order to make an impact and an eye opener for others.

From all these matter, the PCNHS Linis kabataan project 2017 succeeded to bloom and to rise. Maricel L. Mendoza
