DESPITE opposition, a new application to operate Electronic Bingo (e-bingo) in La Trinidad has been made.

Romeo Harve Chong has applied to establish e-bingo and all other games authorized by Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) under RCC Global Entertainment Inc.

The Manila based gaming company is eying to operate government approved gambling at the Jewel Igorot Building, Balili Km. 4 La Trinidad.

Councilor Guiller Galwan chair on Committee on Ways and Means and a Member on the Committee on Laws said since it is the same

as previous applications in the Valley and the decision for Chong will be in consonance with the pending report to be made.

“We will base our action on the result in the last public consultation. It’s the same.”

Last month, a public consultation was made with leaders and representatives from different religious groups, educational institutions, brigades, parents, concerned citizens from different barangays with former La Trinidad Mayor Edna Tabanda who expressed opposition to establishment of gambling operations.

Chong said in his letter dated October 6 to the local council “We are hoping to receive your blessings and approval to establish and operate our business in order to proceed with our application for the necessary documents from PAGCOR. Please allow the letter to serve as our formal application for the issuance of Business Permits and Licenses from your most respective office.”

Chong said “The said area has a favorable market thanks to your very efficient and visionary governance. As such, we hope to work with you in serving the community better as it is the company’s vision to contribute to the effort of the local governments such as generating additional opportunities to the people.”

The town has yet to endorse the operation of three e-bingo applications with the council yet to issue a certification of no objection.
