Dr. Carmel Mata­bang of NEDA – CAR elab­o­rated that Am­bisyon Natin 2040 is the re­sult of a na­tion­wide sur­vey con­ducted to 10,000 re­spon­dents ( 15 to 50 years old) rep­re­sent­ing dif­fer­ent in­come class and both in ur­ban and ru­ral ar­eas from Sulu to Aparri. Through face - to face in­ter­view, they were asked what they want for them­selves in 2040.

About 79 per­cent an­swered that they want a sim­ple and com­fort­able life gen­er­ally de­scribed as hav­ing a medi­um­sized home, hav­ing

enough earn­ings to sup­port ev­ery­day needs, own­ing at least one car/ ve­hi­cle, hav­ing the ca­pac­ity to pro­vide their chil­dren col­lege ed­u­ca­tion, and go­ing on lo­cal trips for va­ca­tion.

In mov­ing to­wards the long - term de­vel­op­ment, NEDA crafted “Aksyon Para Sa Am­bisyon” pro­grams that is guided by the Philip­pine De­vel­op­ment Plan and the Re­gional De­vel­op­ment Plan that con­tain goals on so­cial and hu­man de­vel­op­ment, sus­tain­able eco­nomic growth, en­vi­ron­men­tal qual­ity and sus­tain­able use of re­sources, re­gional in­te­gra­tion and also cul­tural in­tegrity and iden­tity and re­gional au­ton­omy, which is a unique goal for the re­gion.

Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from DSWD, DPWH, DepEd, DENR and the Po­lice Re­gional Of­fice Cordillera also pre­sented im­por­tant sta­tis­tics from their re­spec­tive agen­cies that are re­lated to the at­tain­ment of the so­cio - eco­nomic goals of Am­bisyon.

Na­tional Sta­tis­tics Month is be­ing ob­served ev­ery Oc­to­ber by virtue of Pres­i­den­tial Procla­ma­tion No. 647 is­sued on 20 Septem­ber 20, 1990 and gen­er­ally aims to pro­mote, en­hance and in­stil na­tion­wide aware­ness and ap­pre­ci­a­tion of the im­por­tance of sta­tis­tics to the dif­fer­ent sec­tors of so­ci­ety.
