Training for CICL starts for Benguet

STAKEHOLDE­RS from all 13 municipali­ties of Benguet convened for a Training Workshop on the management and crafting of Community Based Interventi­on Program for Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL).

There were 716 participan­ts in the training comprised of Municipal Social Welfare Officers, Women and Children Protection Desk Officers and All Punong Barangays with members of Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC).

Reports show there are 89 CICL cases reported in the province from January to August this year with theft ranking the highest with 43, followed by 17 cases of physical injury, 10 cases of rape, nine with drug related cases, four cases of malicious mischief and three involved hacking and murder.

The first batch comprised of 428 participan­ts from Atok, Bokod, Buguias, Itogon, Kapangan, La Trinidad followed by 288 participan­ts from Bakun, Kabayan, Kibungan, Mankayan,

Sablan, Tuba and Tublay for the second batch October 18-19.

Provincial Social Welfare and Developmen­t Officer Juana Bannawe said interventi­on programs given to CICL based on lifestyle of the family and the community.

“CICL usually commit cases because of their unmet needs where in several factors are observed but most always come from the family.”

The training has a series of talks and workshops, deliberate­d diversions or interventi­on proceeding­s, protocol or referral system of CICL cases.
