Various measures approved on first reading

AFTER giving way to the Senior Citizens Officials-For-A-Day (SCOFAD) and Scout Officials For-A-Day (SOFAD) and also due to the transport strike, the City Council has resumed work and held their first regular session after three weeks. The council acted on some priority bills including the passage on first reading of several proposals. Among these measures include the proposed ordinance which seeks for the mandatory installati­on of dashboard camera or dashcam system in all public utility vehicles, government­owned vehicles and certain types of vehicles within the City of Baguio. The said proposal was penned by Councilors Benny Bomogao, Michael Lawana and Faustino Olowan. Another ordinance, also authored by Councilor Michael Lawana designatin­g a market day for organic produce/products in the city passed first reading. Councilor Joel Alangsab on the other hand had his proposal which prohibits nailing, pasting, posting and hanging of streamers, posters, banners, political ads and other advertisin­g materials on trees and posts in the city pass the initial phase of deliberati­ons, and also that of Councilor Leandro Yangot Jr. which requires all registered enterprise­s conducting and operating their business within the city to implement their respective Corporate Social Responsibi­lity (CSR) to the communitie­s within the City of Baguio. Other proposals which passed the initial stage of discussion­s include the “Blood Donation Program of the City of Baguio”, “Anti-Spoilage Ordinance” and the “Green Zone Ordinance”.
