Antons, Rivera off to Taiwan for Auto Gymkhana Grand Prix
EIGHT time AAP driver of the year Carlos Anton rejoins four time slalom king Milo Rivera as they seek another podium finish for the Philippines in the 2017 edition of the Taiwan Auto Gymkhana Grand Prix at the end of the month.
Anton and Rivera will defend the championship in the Taiwan joust after stealing the show from the host squad last year.
“Our team has been very successful the last two races but it seems to get harder every time. We are definitely the targets for this round and I’m sure Taiwan will not want to lose to us again,” Anton said.
“We will give it our best to keep the country on the top spot. Carlos and I will be preparing even harder for this round,” added Rivera who will defend his title in the individual competition.
The Anton – Rivera duo recently reaped a gold medal for the country in Korea during the Asia Zone Gymkhana Championship last August.
Also suiting up in Taiwan is 13 – year – old racing sensation Inigo, son of multi – titled race car driver Carlos as he competes against 32 of Asia’s top racers from 12 countries.
Inigo, an 8th grade, 13 year od student of the Baguio Achievers Academy became the youngest National Champion in Slalom racings 30 year history after taking home nine overall wins on route to clinching the national title over Vegil Calayo of JAF racing and Powee Base of PNNS motorsports during the 2017 National Novice Slalom Championship.
The younger Anton used the Mark YoungMohspeed prepared Honda EF with 190 horsepower in all 10 legs of the series.
Although his time will not be officially counted, Inigo was invited by Taiwan officials to showcase his talent against Asia’s veteran champions. Roderick Osis
