Dura lex sed lex: explained

-

THE principle "Dura lex, sed lex" is widely known in the field of law, to those who took up law subjects, and to those who are still taking it up. This principle means, "Harsh is the law, but it is the law." We are agree with this principle, because, laws were made by the people for the sake of the people and to maintain the peace and order in the community. If the law that was made is not harsh or hard, people will tend to ignore it and they might do such things that is against this law. One of the primary reasons why our government make laws is that, they want to maintain the harmony in the society, they want to maintain the peace and order in the community. They were trying to control the actions of the people that might create chaos in the society. For me, there are three things that we must consider: first is, the only one who disagrees with this principle is the one who always wants to violate the law, but is not willing to pay the consequences of his actions. Second, in every action that we made, there is an opposite but equal reaction to it. If someone violates a certain law, there is a corresponding punishment given to him. And the third is, if there are no penalties, many people will commit crime, many people will violate the law, and many people will just commit culpable actions right there and then. These actions might be the cause of a society that is no peace and order at all, and they (the people) might hurt each other. We, the people, must respect and follow what the law is saying, because, law is law. If there is no law, there is no peace and unity. If there is no peace and unity, there is no progress. And if there is no progress, our country will just stay to where it is located at this moment. Based on my opinion, it is not really the law that is harsh, it is only based on the perception of the people who committed such crimes, but didn't want to suffer the corresponding consequences.
