OCD, BCPO on alert for ‘Undas’

-

THE REGIONAL Emergency Operations Center of the Office of the Civil Defense have raised its alert status to ‘blue’ effective October 27 to monitor situations in the region particularly the arrival of tourist coinciding with the national observance of All Saints Day or "Undas".

“In terms of preparation and coordination with other government agencies, everything have been put in place and we are on standby for the necessary monitoring procedures in cases when something may come up," OCD

Cordillera regional Director Andrew Alex Uy said.

Meanwhile, Baguio City Police Office Director Senior Supt. Ramil Saculles urged the public to abide by the security regulations in cemeteries and to respect the solemnity of the annual commemoration of All Saints’ Day.

"As we remember our departed loved ones upon our visit to the various public and private cemeteries in the city, let us be reminded on refraining ourselves from bringing liquor, cigarettes, transistor radios, gambling paraphernalia's, bladed weapons and a like as this would be confiscated by our men in charge in the entry points of the cemeteries," Saculles said.

Saculles assured aside from police visibility, the police have been conducting intelligence and security operations to ensure the safety of the residents that have and will troop to the cemeteries during this Halloween break.

The BCPO reminded residents who may spend time in the cemeteries or those planning to go out of the city and into the provinces during this long break to follow the safety reminders of the PNP.

"We remind them to secure their houses and make sure they are locked with all appliances unplugged before leaving, while for motorists with private vehicles, don’t forget to check their vehicles’ road worthiness before proceeding with trip," Saculles added. Jonathan Llanes
