MSME/SSF twin event a big push for DTI - CAR
AFTER the establishment of Shared Services Facilities (SSF) among cooperators and conducting entrepreneurial mentoring to Cordillera micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Department of Trade and Industry in the Cordillera Region is set to hold an SSF and MSME Development Summit on November 7 and 8 2017 in Baguio City.
DTI-CAR regional director Myrna Pablo announced the twin event at the Hotel Supreme will be a “big push” for the SME Program which aims to increase competence and competitiveness of MSMEs in the region.
Pablo stressed the summit intends to position Cordillera’s MSMEs at the forefront of the ASEAN Economic Community’s (AEC) priority of “inclusive, innovation-led growth” agenda aside from serving as a platform for sharing best practices among successful entrepreneurs in the country.
On November 7, the MSME Development Summit will start at 9:00 a.m. with keynote speaker DTI Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya.
The morning session includes a forum on Promoting MSMEs for ASEAN Prosperity.
This will be followed by panel discussion on the 7Ms Towards Prosperity in ASEAN with Atty. Alexander Bangsoy and Engr. Mark Joseph Lacambra.
A press conference with Usec Zenaida C. Maglaya and other officials is likewise scheduled at noon break.
The afternoon session will tackle Mastery and Mentoring toward Competitiveness and Resilience and Accessing Domestic-Regional Markets and Overcoming Money Hurdles. Other topics to be discussed by experts are Machines & Proactive Business Models Toward Productive and Responsive and MSMEs by Sam Christopher Lim of the ASEAN, Philippine Franchise Association and Edmark Bustos of Amare, La Cusina.
The first day session will end with the topic “Way Forward for ASEAN MSME Development” by director Jerry Clavesillas of the DTI Bureau of MSME Development with the closing message of Juan dela Cruz vicechairperson of RSMEDC.
