-

INDIE folk band Ransom Collective leads the Philippine representation in the ASEAN-India Musical Festival happening at the monumental Purana Qila (Old Fort), New Delhi, India from October 6 – 8, 2017.

ASEAN-India Music Festival will feature bands presenting various genres of popular music (rock, pop, rock and roll) while at the same time influenced by the cultural milieu of the respective countries. The Ransom Collective will join leading musicians and bands from the ten member states of ASEAN and India.

Aside from the main stage performances, TRC will also perform in Jaipur on October 10, 2017 as part of the showcase performances of selected ASEAN artists.

Ransom Collective is composed of vocalist Kian Ransom, drummer Redd Claudio, percussionist Jermaine Choa Peck, bassist Leah Halili, keyboardist Lily Gonzales and violinist Muriel Gonzales.

The band established a strong presence in the local music scene after winning “Wanderband” in 2014 and released their album Traces in May of 2017. They have collaborated with ASEAN artists such as Yuna (Malaysia), GAC (Indonesia) and Gabby Alipe of Urbandub. The six-piece band is now looking towards creating a mark in the Southeast Asian scene.

When asked what the group is looking forward to during the festival, they cited food and culture primarily.

“We are looking forward to meet the other artists kasi it’s the best opportunity to meet artists from other countries since it is ASEAN and its India. We are also looking forward to the trip since it is going to be our first time in India and first time playing outside the Philippines to represent the country.” Said Muriel Gonzales

“It is an honor really.” Said Kian Ransom, vocalist when asked how the band feels about being selected to represent the country for the festival.

The Ransom Collection will join Nam Fon Indee of Lao Peoples Democratic Republic, A Band Once of Brunei Darussalam, Asia 7 of Thailand, and Shankar Ehsaan Loy of India. The artists will also have festival performances with TRC leading the performance in Jaipur India.
