BCT Atoms drub winless KCP Amazing Tigers

THREE Baguio College of Technology Atoms combined for 78 points as the Harrison Road based dribblers march back to the win column by drubbing a hapless Kings College of the Philippine­s Amazing Tigers, 110 – 84 in the men’s basketball of the Baguio – Benguet Educationa­l Athletic League season 31.

After a sorry loss against the Cordillera Career Developmen­t College Admirals in their last outing, the Atoms started strong erecting a 10 point lead early in the opening quarter before pulling away with a commanding 34 – 9 lead at the close of the first canto.

Azzir Rabara, after scoring only 12 against the Admirals torched the net with a game high 30 points

while Reynil Amargo added 26 including three triples on a 3 – of – 7 shooting from beyond the arch. Armando Pollante, who was limited to only 12 against the Admirals finished the ball game with 22 while Kram William Domingo chipped in 11 points.

The Atoms, with Pollante, Rabara, and Amargo in the court enjoyed their biggest lead at 81 – 41 with 4:54 remaining in the third period.

Despite the huge deficit, KCP slowly trimmed the lead, storming a 16 – 9 run, to trim the gap at 90 – 57 before the start of the pay off canto.

The fight back however was thwarted in the final period with Pollante and Amrago finding ways to score against the KCP’s defense.

Giovanni Nicoli Cuilan led the Amzaing Tigers with 24 points while Roldan Bangcado and Kerry Von Abances contribute­d 11 and 10 markers each.

With the victory, the Atoms forced a three way tie for the first place in bracket B with the Philippine Military Academy, and the Admirals having identical 3 -1 win loss record. Benguet State University is at solo second with 1 – 3 while season 31 host KCP sits at the bottom with an 0 – 4 record.

In bracket A, after its moral boosting win against University of Baguio Cardinals, Saint Louis University Navigators is currently enjoying the top spot with a clean 3 - 0 record while defending champion University of the Cordillera­s Jaguars is 2 - 0.

UC is set to clash against UB this coming Friday before taking on SLU in the last game of the first round of men’s basketball on Monday, November 13.

Baguio Central University and Pines City Colleges has yet to score a victory with an 0 - 3 record. The two winless squad however will clash on Thursday at the UB gym. Roderick Osis
