Make the ultimate sacrifice to step down, PBA head told

- NA

THE DRAMA CONTINUES. The "majority bloc" called on PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa to resign from his post.??

“If the commissioner really loves the PBA and the public that he conveniently espouses, he may make the ultimate sacrifice of voluntarily stepping down," said incoming PBA Board of Governors chairman Ramoncito Fernandez, who issued the statement on behalf of the seven governors who moved not to renew Narvasa's term for next season.??

The statement was in response to Narvasa's statement on Thursday that he will not step down as commissioner.

On Thursday, Fernandez, who represents NLEX, called for an emergency meeting that was attended by TNT's Pato Gregorio, Meralco's Al Panlilio, Phoenix's Raymond Zorilla, Blackwater's Silliman Sy, Alaska's Dickie Bachmann, and Rain or Shine's Mert Mondragon, where they agreed that Narvasa's term will not be extended for another season.

"We are not removing Commissioner Narvasa for incompetence and performance. We are setting it clear that we are not supporting the renewal of the term of Commissioner Narvasa, which has effectively expired at the end of the 42nd season," Fernandez said as he recounted what transpired during the meeting.

"It is unfortunate that some are providing misleading statement in order to vainly justify the continued stay of a very unpopular commissioner," he added. PNA
