CORDILLERA Administrative Region's most awaited trade fair in the National Capital Region dubbed "IMPAKABSAT" formally opened last Friday, November 17 with new items and skillfully improved products that were subject to style enhancements by experts.

DTI-Regional Operations Group Assistant Secretary Demphna Du-Naga congratulated DTI-CAR and participating traders for mounting another trade promotional activity that showcase only the best from the Cordillera.

The fair will extend until November 26 with various items such as wood and bamboo based products, woven items, gifts and homewares, jewelries, other fashionable items and others that are ideal for Christmas gifts.

IMPAKABSAT is a coined name out of the first letters of the Cordillera provinces which is completed with the Ilocano word "kabsat" to mean brotherhood.

DTI-CAR OIC director Grace Baluyan invited everyone during the opening program to patronize the products of the region that hosts the country's only UNESCO recognized creative city.

Asec Du-Naga emphasized that traders must also embrace modernity to be competitive globally. "Opportunity does come all the time and we are also faced with trials and failures. However, it is through facing these trials that we succeed for as long as you don't give up. Give your best and DTI will be there to assist you." The trade fair which is the 26th staging of IMPAKABSAT originally started at Hotel Nikko in 1991 after the great quake of 1990 to boost the economic activity of a resilient region.

Also present during the fair opening program were Nigerian Ambassador H.E. Adekunbi Sonaike-Ayodeji, Royal Thai Embassy Minister & Deputy Chief of Mission Uranadee Sriphiromya, Turkish Embassy Commercial Counsellor Halil Ozturu.
