Tourist dies, rice mill worker stabbed in Kalinga

A 55-year old tourist died after she allegedly succumbed to cardiac arrest while resting in a house at Poblacion, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

Authoritie­s identified the victim as Agustina Ng Delos Reyes, 55, widow, house wife and resident of 19 Bataan Road, Garcia Heights, barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.

Probers said a group of tourists, including the victim, arrived in the area to visit Apo Whang-od and took a rest in one of the lodging facilities in the place.

While resting, the victim suffered from dizziness which caught the attention of her daughter who applied first aid treatment but she became unconsciou­s.

Emergency volunteers also tried to revive the victim but their efforts were in vain.

The victim was brought home by her relatives back to Quezon City.

Meanwhile, a rice mill worker in Tabuk City was injured after he was stabbed by his co- worker during a drinking session inside their workplace at Purok 4, Bulanao.

Authoritie­s identified the victim as Elmer

Rosa, a resident of Purok 3, Bulanao while the suspect was named as Roy Chaluping Faniker and a resident of Malleda, Ipil, Tabuk City.

Initial investigat­ion showed the victim and the suspect had a drinking session inside their workplace when a heated altercatio­n cropped up which resulted to a fistfight.

During the commotion, the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim several times on the upper portion of his body but the latter was able to elude further injuries.

The victim was rushed to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medical treatment while the suspect was arrested by responding operatives and is now detained at the Tabuk city Police Office.
