BANGUED, Abra -Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan called on local officials, government line agencies and the media to intensify their information education campaign on values formation to help address the problem on teenage pregnancy in the Cordillera region.

Domogan, chairperson of the Regional Development Council and the Regional Peace and Order Council (RDC-RPOC), made the call based on the report of the Department of Social Welfare and Development on the tremendous increase of teenage pregnancies in the region.

DSWD Regional Director Janet Armas reported during the joint RDC-RPOC meeting last week that from 58 reported teenage pregnancy cases in the first semester of 2016, it jumped to 186 cases in 2017.

The National Youth Commission earlier re- ported a continuous rise of teenage pregnancy in the region and even poets have participated in spreading awareness on reproductive health in efforts to address this concern.

Meanwhile, Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-Cor) re-

ported decrease of crime volume in the region by 36.72 percent with 5,643 cases from January–October compared to the 7,639 cases during the same period last year.

Chief Supt. Francis Sarona presented an analysis of the crime commission through the crime clock. He disclosed that crimes like rape, robbery, murder 00 p.m. while carnapping is committed from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight.

The crime clock aims to warn the general public to be extra careful during such time of the night to prevent crimes.
