BAGUIO CITY is not just a favorite destinatio­n for tourists both local and abroad but also a preferred venue for seminars and conference­s.

University of the Philippine­s-Diliman Department of Communicat­ion Research Department Head and Conference Coordinato­r Assistant Professor Maria Rosel San Pascual said Baguio was immediatel­y their first choice as location for the 5th National Communicat­ion Research Conference which is being held for the first time outside UP Diliman Campus.

More than 600 Student and faculty researcher­s in the country registered for the three day event dubbed FCX “Filipino Communicat­ive Experience” which started on November 22. One of the highlights is the pre-conference workshop “Pagpapahay­ag” which focuses on research disseminat­ion and interactiv­e lecture at the University of the Cordillera­s.

The activity also covers lecture on presenting and publishing papers in reputable academic outlets while the research presentati­on covers free workshop on effective oral presentati­on skills and the use of visual aids.

The organizers hope to inspire all researcher­s to pursue research that matters making them know that this should not just end up as a document submitted solely as a requiremen­t in school but need to be disseminat­ed and published as communicat­ion research.

In the conference, attendees are also given tips on how to communicat­e research findings and publish it in journals.

“Research worth doing is research worth presenting and disseminat­ing,” UP College of Mass Communicat­ion Dean Elena Pernia said during the opening of the conference.
