A Benguet town is eyeing \ its own water system catering to residents.

Tuba Mayor Ignacio Rivera said the town has entered into an agreement with a private corporation to develop a source of potable water for residents in Barangay Poblacion.

"The management of the water system will be

solely done by the municipality as an economic enterprise," said Rivera.

Councilor Jerome Palaoag said they have tapped DELCARE, a Manila based private corporation which will develop and in-charge of the impounding and treatment of the water system.

Palaog said residents of Barangay Poblacion are currently tapping he services of the Baguio Water District for its potable water requirement.

According to the town official, DELCARE will be in-charge of the construction of the water system coming from Cagaling River Badiwan Springs.

The area is adjacent to the lot owned by the Bureau of Animal Industry as town officials have sought the help of the agency to allot 2,000 square meter for the water system.

"The Bureau of Animal Industry said they will be giving us 2,000 square meters," Palaoag said.

The distribution of potable water supply will be catering mainly to households in Poblacion which Palaoag said holds 7,000 people that needs 2,500 cubic meter of water.

"We will target first the urbanize barangays," added Paloag.

Based on the initial study by the municipality, the water system is eyed to produce 5,000 cubic meter per day.

Construction of the water system is set on the first quarter of 2018 with an initial cost of P18 to 24 million.

"First we have to fulfill the requirement of the community, the extra would be sold to Baguio," added Palaoag.
