APPY 50th anniversary lolo Herr and lola

Bautista! I am not sure they would like to be called this (chuckles). The celebration took place at the Camp John Hay Golf Clubhouse Fine dining Room Dec 30. We were instructed to not bring any gifts and just be in our casual attire. We were informed that there will be no mass, no program, no renewal, no speeches, no loud music and no live band. The party was candid and genuine. Everyone indeed had a great time.

My dad Tolitz and mom Brenda were just 21 years old when they got married. They were dad’s “ninong” and “ninang” in his “binyag”. Lolo Herr and lola Leonie gave a room for a night or two for my parent’s honeymoon at the Baguio Country Club way back in 1988. Dad would also encounter his ninong Herr during golf games and tournaments at the BCC. My cousins call me Karl / Karu or Jelo. I belong to the fourth generation. As lolo Nando Bautista (Fernando) had 3 other brothers (Amado, Vicente and Conrado), I come from the Vicente clan. Vicente is the father of my lola Angelina “Angie” (the oldest living descendant of the second generation).

I would always look forward to reunions like what we had in 2013 and 2016. Relatives outside Baguio and abroad would come to attend. It was also a chance for us to get to know our other cousins and mingle.

Looking forward to the next reunion! Cheers to lolo Herr and lola Leonie! God bless us all! Karu Villanueva (brenandkaru@yahoo.com.ph).
