Silahis ng Pasko sa Baguio 2017 ends with never-ending, joyful memories
THE final curtain call of Silahis ng Pasko sa Baguio happened on January 2, after showcasing the joy and wonderful memories greeting the arrival of the city's New Year Baby Girl, Crystal Kaye Diwayan at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC). It was 2:36 in the morning of New Year's Day, when the 3.33 kilogram bundle of joy first saw the light of day. Her lovely mother, Joylyn, is presently a housewife. She finished BS Civil Engineering while her husband is a vocational graduate in driving, who doubles up as a laborer. Both parents are 24 years old. The lucky baby is the couple's first child. They are currently renting a boarding house in Apugan, barangay Poliwes.
Last Tuesday morning, SNPB Executive Comittee led by yours truly visited the mother and child at the hospital. We presented them "welcome gift items". My good friend, retired U.S. Navy Angel Villalarvo and his charming wife Edel, main hosts of the special activity gifted the lucky mother and child P5,000 while balikbayan Jossie Delanila, anual host of the Christmas Baby quest added P1,000. FBASECA gave baby clothes, BARP Foundation gave blankets, OSCA also gave baby clothes and my wife Consuelo gave assorted biscuits and soft drinks while the CSWDO gave a cavan of rice. After a short adn simple giving rites, Joylyn thanked profusely the gift givers and the All Mighty for the grace and blessings they recieved this Christmas Season.
The set of pictures for posterity in this page were taken by Bulletin-Balita and freelance photojournalist Zaldy Comanda and a staffer from the CSWDO. The pictures of the New Year Baby 2018 and the Baguio Balikbayan Day are from Zaldy while the PWDs Day is courtesy of CSWDO.
Like in previous years, the conduct and presentation of the various programs of Silahis ng Pasko sa Baguio 2017 began on a high note and ended on a higher level of success worthy of remembrance today, tomorrow, and deep into the future. The Bayanihan Spirit of our event sponsors, participants, the volunteers on the job in every single offering of the monthlong 44th anniversary edition of Silahis ng Pasko was extremely commendable, loved, enjoyed, and admired. Again, for and on behalf of my co-chairperson Betty Fangasan and my humble self and all our associates in the yearly Yuletide Holy Days celebration, we thank you very much for your kindness!
Our ever lasting gratitude also goes to businessman and media practitioner Ompong Tan of Colorworld for his generosity adn exemplary support and cooperation in the overwhelming success of Silahis ng Pasko through the years. God bless us all!
