A JEWELRY shop lost close to P10 million worth of silver wares and cash after robbers broke into the establishment thru a sewer tunnel in Mines View Park.

Probers are now in the process of investigating how robbers were able to gain access from a man hole which was used as an entry and exit point in hauling out silver crafts and over P49,000 in cash at stalls No. 10 and 11 of Pilak silver shop from 7 p.m. of January 6 up to 2 a.m. of January 7.

Initial investigation revealed the suspects to have dug a cave starting from the barangay manhole some 240 meters away from the jewelry shop.

Upon reaching the

area below the jewelry shop, the suspects then used a hydraulic jack to forcefully open its concrete flooring, paving the way for them to enter the establishment and begin to cart away the as- sorted and newly delivered silver jewelries.

Sixty six – year – old Baguio resident and jewelry shop owner Precy Marcelo confirmed aside from the assorted jewelries, her cash worth P49,595 which was placed inside a cabinet was taken by the suspects.

Information gathered by the police from a parking attendant stated the presence of sacks filled with soil near the manhole since December 28 of last year.

Police were able to recover a hydraulic jack which is believed to be used by the suspects aside from the wooden structures.
