PDEA nabs lady drug peddler

AN ELUSIVE lady drug peddler finally fell into the arms of the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency Cordillera during a sting operation along Balacbac, Sto. Tomas Proper, Baguio City.

The 45-year old suspect and resident of the same barangay was arrested after selling five sachets containing suspected shabu to an undercover PDEA agent.

Anti-narcotics agents recovered from the suspect the buybust money worth P20,000 in her possession.

City Jail and will be facing a case for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act Number 9165 otherwise known as the "Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002".

PDEA Cordillera Informatio­n Officer Atty. Joseph Calulut said with the renewed support of the PNP to PDEA, they foresee more arrests in the future of suspected illegal drug operators in the region.

“We call on the community to continue in feeding us informatio­n which would lead to the arrest of persons involved in the illegal drug trade," added Calulut.

Cordillera police meanwhile, in its intensifie­d fight against crime, has arrested 2,293 criminals in various police operations, and three top most wanted Persons with rewards in 2017.

Its sustained anticrimin­ality operations dubbed as “Oplan Lambat-Sibat" which aims to keep the communitie­s safer with the primary goal of reducing crime and improving public safety, a total of 2,054 wanted persons were arrested from January to December 2017.

The highest performing office is Baguio City Police Office with 857 arrests followed by Benguet PPO with 413; Abra with 224; Kalinga with 204; Ifugao with 191; Apayao with 86 and Mountain Province having 79 arrests.

For the ten most wanted persons, a total of 239 were arrested, 10 of which belongs to the regional level, 66 in the provincial level and 163 in the municipal/ city level.

Most noteworthy accomplish­ment during the year was the neutraliza­tion of the top most wanted person in the national level, Willy Sagasag with a reward of P600,000.

This aside from the arrest of the head of the military affairs of the CPP/NPA, Prudencio Cortez with a reward of P4.8 million, and Bernard Wacoy y Bitaol with a reward of P90,000.

Police Chief Superinten­dent Elmo Francis Oco Sarona, regional director said the positive result of massive manhunt operations is the noteworthy result of PRO-COR’s continuous crime reduction program.

“We are relentless­ly dedicated to continue our service as protectors of the people,” added Sarona. "We grab this chance to hunt these criminals to prevent them from committing their nefarious activities to ensure the security of the public."

Sarona meanwhile directed all unit commanders to passionate­ly implement the service of warrants and account all wanted persons to help fast track pending cases in various courts of the region.
